Anyone who has eaten in Sort knows that the food is good and plentiful. We have all kinds of bars and restaurants, from a creperie in a trailer to a Michelin-starred restaurant: Pallarès cuisine, Catalan cuisine, signature cuisine, pizzas, crepes, small plates, tapas…

Most of the gastronomic establishments are concentrated in Sort, but the other villages in the municipality hide some gems that you must discover.

Additionally, in Sort and Pallars Sobirà, we have farmers and artisanal food producers who make high-quality products: meats, sausages, cheeses, wines, pastries, Sorre walnuts, Llessui potatoes…

These passionate producers often love to show how they work. With guided tours, you can discover almost everything about our producers; however, you know artisans always keep some secrets up their sleeves.

Cheeses

The artisanal cheese makers of Sort and the surrounding area produce a wide range of cheeses using milk from local cows and sheep. They make traditional Pyrenean cheeses, such as Tupí and Serrat, but also create innovative varieties. Their workshops can be visited, and you can even take a tour of wines, landscapes and cheeses by booking through their websites.

Wines

Two hundred years ago, there were vineyards on the slopes of El Batlliu de Sort, but they were converted to pastureland. Recently, vineyards have been replanted and a winery has been established. These vineyards are surrounded by oak, cherry and hackberry forests and primarily cultivate Pinot Noir, Riesling and Viognier varieties on calcareous and slate soils.

Meats

The mountain farming of Pallars Sobirà produces top-quality meats from Pyrenean brown cattle, Xisqueta lamb and Catalan Pyrenean foals. Pyrenean brown veal has a good fat marbling, making it more flavourful. Xisqueta lamb has a robust flavour, excellent for stewing and grilling. Foal meat is rich in omega 3.
